Unfortunately, growing nutrient-dense, delicious, nutritious veg using methods that are harmonious with nature isn't cheap!
So we're keeping costs down as much as possible without compromising on quality: by minimising waste and maximising efficiency.
This means that we do our harvesting, divide it all up into shares, and distribute it amongst the boxes.
Having said all that, we understand that there’s things people won’t want. That's why our main collection point in Gwynfe will have additional veg that people can swap out, AND we’re encouraging local gardeners to bring surplus to increase the volume and variety of veg available. If you’re picking up from a non-Gwynfe location you can let us know if there is anything in particular you really don’t want, and we’ll look to accommodate you as best we can!
"CSA" stands for "Community Supported Agriculture".
It's a farming model where members of a local community buy shares of a local farm's harvest in advance, supporting farmers and receiving fresh, seasonal produce.
Paying upfront helps farms cover operational costs, sharing the risks and benefits of the harvest - and creates a direct link between farmers and the people who eat what they grow!
We are looking for people to join the CSA with the intention of sticking around for the full year, but we also understand that circumstances change.
Life happens, people move house… so yes, you absolutely can cancel, but we would simply ask that you do so with as much notice as possible.
We will look to maintain a waiting list of people so that if-and-when one household needs to drop out, there is another one who can take over their subscription.
You have three options:
Have someone else pick it up for you.
If you could make one of our other collection points (on different days/times) you can let us know in advance and we'll bring your box there instead.
We can store it on the farm for a couple of days and you can pick it up another time. (We'll set up a cool box in a safe space.)
If none of these work, we suggest being a super generous food hero and donating your box - we will give it to a local food bank or community kitchen on your behalf.
If you’re a keen gardener and grow your own, perhaps get a smaller box, and use the swap and share options to adjust what you take home based on your preferences.
If you’re picking up from a non-Gwynfe location, let us know if there is anything in particular you really don’t want, and we’ll look to accommodate you as best we can.
